Washington, D.C. —  OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates will be hosting the 2026 OCA National Convention from July 23 to 26, 2026, in Detroit, MI.

This year’s theme, “Motown Momentum: Igniting New Energy, Inspiring All Generations,” reflects OCA’s commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders while honoring the rich legacy of organizing and resilience rooted in Detroit. From labor movements to cultural innovation, Detroit has long been a city where community power fuels lasting change.

“We are excited to bring the AANHPI community together in Detroit, a city with a long history of social activism and cultural innovation,” said Thu Nguyen, Executive Director of OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates. “This year’s conference will spotlight leadership, activism, and the critical role of intergenerational partnerships in shaping a vibrant future.”

The convention will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, and interactive workshops designed to foster leadership, collaboration, and community engagement. Leaders from across the AANHPI community will share insights on activism, politics, and community development.

OCA is also pleased to honor a distinguished group of individuals whose dedication and service to the AANHPI community have made a lasting impact:

  • Senator Stephanie Chang, Outstanding Citizen Achievement Award

  • Henry Duong, Community Builder Award

  • Kameelah Shareef Sims, Outstanding Partner of the Year

  • Curtis Chin, Pioneer Award

  • Lisa Gray, Pioneer Award

  • Deepa Iyer, Pioneer Award

OCA invites you to join us in Detroit for this important gathering to celebrate the achievements of the AANHPI community and support the rise of new leaders. The convention is free and open to the public, but full-package registration is required for special events, including the Saturday Night Awards Gala. Learn more at www.ocanationalconvention.org.
