A Walk in Beijing
By Madison “Max” Xiao
This was a piece I did in high school that was inspired by the bright fashion I saw in the streets of Beijing. I wanted to capture the colorful and expressive tone of the clothing and hope that people also get a feeling of joy when looking at this piece.
Madison "Max" Xiao is an artist from Wisconsin who focuses on nature, character design, saturated colors, and mythology. They recently graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in Political Science and minors in History and Asian American Studies, and are currently working through various jobs in Wisconsin (publishing, public libraries) as they figure out a path towards the future. Madison draws much inspiration for their art from dreams, the Art Nouveau era, the filmography of David Lynch, and bright, splashy colors. They enjoy baking, eating, watching movies, and reading in their down time. If you want to see more of their (rare) artworks, please follow them on Instagram @xizo126.
