ESSA Draft State Plans

State level tracking of English Language Learner provisions in the state level draft plans for the Every student Suceeds Act.

President Barack Obama signed the Every Student Succeeds Act to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), which controls K-12 public education. This legislation requires each state to create a draft plan outlining how they will comply with ESSA.

For English Language Learners (ELL), ESSA state plans must outline how state and local education agencies will ensure they are working to close the achievement gap between ELL students and their non-ELL counterparts. Since each state is different in how they will approach their plans, OCA has outlined numerous states' ELL provisions as outlined in their ESSA Draft Plans. Click your state to see what their state plans say about English Language Learners.
