Washington, D.C. – OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates is extremely concerned about the Trump administration’s recent expansion of the travel ban.

The previous ban was placed on Libya, Syria, Iran, Somalia, Yemen and Sudan. The new ban now includes those same countries as well as Chad, Iran, North Korea, Somalia, and Venezuela; Sudan has been removed from the list. The travel restriction policies vary for each country and will begin phasing into effect next month.

“President Trump’s Travel Ban 3.0 is extremely concerning. Since he first announced it, we have been vocal about its possible negative ramifications on immigrants and refugees not only seeking admittance into our country, but who are currently here. OCA has specifically been cautious about the possible expansion of countries to include any that may potentially be deemed a security threat by this administration, including many Asian countries,” said Vicki Shu, OCA National Vice President of Public Affairs. “
