WASHINGTON, D.C. – OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates commends the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit’s decision uphold the suspension of President Trump’s travel ban.

Yesterday, in the case of State of Hawaii v. Trump, the United States Court of Appeals maintained an injunction on President Trump’s travel ban with a unanimous ruling from a three-judge panel. The President’s executive order would have barred individuals from six Muslim majority countries from visiting or immigrating to the United States for 90 days and prohibit the acceptance of all refugees for 120 days.

VickiShu, OCA Vice President of Public Affairs said “The ruling by the 9th Circuit stated that President Trump’s travel ban did not pass muster in its claim to protect our nation’s security interests by preventing entry to the US of over 180 million people based on their national origin.  Having been targets of similar travel bans in the past, Asian Americans remain dedicated to an immigration system that is open to all. OCA will continue to fight to ensure that history does not repeat itself.”

OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates is a national organization of community advocates dedicated to improving the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans (APAs).
