is a resident of Richmond, Virginia and has been involved with OCA since 1978 when the OCA chapter in Central Virginia was first accepted as a chapter by the OCA National Board of Directors.
Eric’s father, Dr. Leroy C. Lin, was one of the founding members and the first Treasurer of the Chapter.
In 1997, Eric began his service to the community as a Board member of OCA-CVC.
Since then, Eric served two terms as Chapter President and currently serves on the chapter Advisory Board.
Eric is a strong believer in building vibrant, empowered and prosperous communities. For that reason, he has been engaged as a community advocate and servant leader for over nineteen years. He served as Board Member and Marketing Chair for the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation as well as the Programs Director, Governance Chair and Community Relations Director for the Asian American Society of Central Virginia. He currently serves on several Boards both regionally and statewide- the Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital Advisory Board; the Board of Directors for Leadership Metro Richmond; and the Virginia Asian Advisory Board to the Honorable Governor Terence R. McAuliffe, where he is serving his second term as Chairman. Eric also serves as an informal liaison with the Multicultural Committee for the Boy Scouts of America, Heart of Virginia Council and Senior Connections—the Capital Area Agency on Aging under the Department of Rehabilitative Services in Virginia.
Eric received his Bachelor of Science in Materials Engineering from Virginia Tech. As a student, Eric was fortunate to have the opportunity to work as an engineering intern at Allied Signal Corporation and as a researcher on NASA’s Space Shuttle Program. From 1996-2008, Eric owned and operated the largest orchid nursery in the Mid-Atlantic region with a sales footprint from Charlotte to Philadelphia and servicing accounts which included Safeway, Whole Foods, Harris Teeters, Balducci’s, Fresh Markets and Ahold/Giant. Currently, Eric is the Principal of The VIE Group and works as a business development and real estate consultant.
Eric is married to Tu, and is the father of 3 wonderful children, Sydney, Audrey and Sebastian.
