OCA To Host Second Annual Bamboo Event In Washington, DC

WASHINGTON, D.C. – OCA, a national organization dedicated to advancing the social, political and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans (APAs), has partnered once again with Yum! Brands, the world's largest restaurant company to host the second annual Bamboo event for aspiring APA professionals. Bamboo will take place Friday, October 22, 2010 at the Liaison Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.

Bamboo: Build, Breakthrough & Believe is a professional development program introduced in 2009 by OCA to create and strengthen a pipeline of emerging APA leaders. Over 100 APA young professionals attended the Bamboo launch in Washington, D.C. in conjunction with OCA’s National APA Corporate Achievement Awards. 

The goal of Bamboo is to provide relevant professional development, peer-networking, and mentoring to aspiring APA professionals. Sessions and topics will range from personal branding to corporate success tactics and strategies. 

"As an Asian Pacific American organization, we strongly believe aspiring APA professionals are essential to advancing our mission,” said Ken Lee, OCA National President. "With Bamboo we hope to continue to provide meaningful professional development, networking and mentoring opportunities to our rising leaders."

The Bamboo program provides an opportunity for APA professionals to learn from community members who have had diverse experiences and met their true potential in their personal and professional lives. 

Participating speakers will include; Carl Choi, President and CEO of Plan C Agency, Michelle DiTondo, Vice President of Human Resources for Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Sue Ann Hong, Claims Manager for State Farm, Ken Lee, OCA National President, Bob Lim, Vice President of West Area Sales for Kraft Foods, Ray Rivera, Director of the Office of Public Engagement for Secretary Ken Salazar and Amado Uno, Special Assistant to the Secretary Department of Labor.
