OCA Announces the 2010 AXA Achievement(sm) Scholars

WASHINGTON, D.C. – OCA, a national organization with 80 chapters and affiliates dedicated to advancing the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans (APAs), is pleased to announce the 10 winners of the AXA- Achievement(sm) Scholarship.  The scholarship awards $2,000 to high school seniors who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership ability, and commitment to community service and will be attending an institution of higher learning this fall.  Since 2004, the OCA-AXA Achievement(sm) Scholarship has awarded 64 scholarships for a total amount of $128,000.  

"We developed AXA Achievement(sm) because we understand how challenging the road to college can be,” said Faith Frank, president of the AXA Foundation, which underwrites AXA Achievement(sm) scholarships. "OCA-AXA Achievement(sm) Scholarship winners are young people who have accomplished something special, who show the determination to set and reach goals."  

"With the support of the AXA Foundation, OCA is able to provide necessary assistance to these hardworking, high-achieving students who are dedicated to improving their communities.  OCA wishes the scholarship recipients success in college and beyond,” said OCA National President Ken Lee.
