WASHINGTON, DC – OCA, a national organization committed to embracing the hopes and aspirations of Asian Pacific Americans, recently elected a new executive council. On October 18, 2008, the OCA National Board elected Ken Lee as its National President for a two-year term starting January 1, 2009. Lee is the current OCA Executive Vice President and served as the President of the OCA-Georgia Chapter from 1999 to 2000. His experience on the OCA Executive Council also includes serving as the VP of Chapter Development for two terms and VP of Economic Development. Lee was recently the Vice President of Security of UPS and retired in early 2008. In 1997, Ken was selected by UPS to be the recipient of the OCA National Asian American Corporate Achievement Award.

Joining Lee on the 2009-2010 Executive Council will be:

Judge Michael Kwan - Executive Vice President
Kwan is part of the OCA-Utah Chapter. He is the first Chinese-America to be appointed to the judiciary in Utah. He is currently an adjunct professor for the Salt Lake Community College and also teaches for the Utah Courts and National Drug Court Institute.

Sharon Wong - Secretary

Wong is currently the VP for Education and Culture and was a past President of OCA-DC Chapter.  Wong is the diversity officer at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.  

Linda Ng - Treasurer

Ng is the immediate Past President of OCA-Sacramento Chapter. She has been part of the OCA-Sacramento Chapter Board since 1998, serving as Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Professionally she is the Chief of the Safe Drinking Water Office in the California Department of Water Resources.

Duy Nguyen - Vice President Chapter of Development

Nguyen will serve his second consecutive term as the VP Chapter of Development. He co-chaired the 2005 OCA National Convention hosted by OCA-Las Vegas Chapter. Professionally, Nguyen is a business development executive for an Asian American publication.

Mia Youhne - Vice President of Communications

Youhne will serve her second consecutive term as the VP of Communications. She served as President of the OCA-Las Vegas Chapter from 2001 to 2005. She is currently completing her PhD in Special Education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she also serves as a part time instructor.

Rogene Gee Calvert - Vice President of Economic Development

Calvert will serve her second consecutive term as the VP of Economic Development. She is a current board member of the OCA-Greater Houston Chapter. Professionally she serves the City of Houston as the Director of Personnel and Volunteer initiatives to the Mayor.

Miriam L. Yeung - Vice President of Education and Culture

Yeung has been an active member of OCA since 1980, her positions have included Immediate Past President of OCA-Fairfield County, Board Member of OCA-Fairfield County and Board Member of OCA-Chicago.

Chu Lan Shubert-Kwock - Vice President of Finance

Shubert- Kwock currently serves as President of OCA-Hawaii Chapter. Professionally Shubert- Kwan is the Principal Broker for both ABC Mortgage and Chu Lan Properties.

Wendy Wilber - Vice President of Membership

Wilber is finishing her current term as President of the OCA-Central Illinois Chapter. Wilber is currently a manager at State Farm Insurance Companies Corporate Headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois.

Debbie Chen - Vice President of Public Affairs

Chen is the current OCA National VP of Membership Services. Chen is the principal of MZR Group which is a consulting firm specializing in Minority, Woman, Disadvantaged Business Diversity (MWDBE). She is also the Human Relations Department MWDBE & Affirmative Action Division Manager of the City of Kansas City, Missouri.
