Washington DC—OCA, a national Asian Pacific American organization with 80 chapters and college affiliates across the country dedicated to advancing the social, political, and economic well-being for Asian Pacific Americans, announced that State Farm will receive OCA’s 2008 Corporate Partner Award at the OCA Gala Awards Banquet on Saturday, August 2, 2008.
"State Farm has been a long-time partner of OCA and a pillar of support in our work in the community and with the private sector,” said Ginny Gong, OCA National President, "Their dedication to OCA’s mission and members has been unwavering and inspirational, and we are proud to present them with this year’s Corporate Partner Award.”
Since 1994, State Farm has been the presenting sponsor of a number of OCA programs. APIA U: Leadership 101, OCA’s college leadership training program, reaches hundreds of APIA college students each year. The JACL/OCA Leadership Conference brings emerging leaders from both organizations together for an annual training in Washington, DC. The APA Entrepreneur Empowerment Training Scholarship is a new collaboration providing APA entrepreneurs with business development training.
State Farm is also a member of OCA’s Business Advisory Council, a vital link between OCA and the business community, providing financial, professional, and corporate guidance to OCA. In addition, State Farm has been a major supporter of OCA’s successful internship program, and is the Platinum Sponsor of the Gala Awards Banquet at the OCA 2008 National Convention.

The OCA National Convention draws Asian Pacific Americans from around the country and is one of the largest annual gatherings of APAs in the US. This year, OCA celebrates its 35th anniversary. Since 1973, OCA has been a leading voice for the advancement of Asian Pacific Americans, helping to create new opportunities for the APA community and encourage the full participation of APAs in US society.
The convention features three days of workshops; an Exhibit and Career Fair; and a Community Health Fair which are free and open to the public.
