Karen Kwan, OCA - Utah

Karen Kwan earned a B.A. in Psychology and an M.A. in Clinical/Community Psychology at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. She moved to Utah to work as a counselor at the Asian Association of Utah and then took a position as the first full time Asian/Pacific Islander student adviser at the University of Utah. It was there that she earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy. She is now an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department at Salt Lake Community College and an adjunct professor for Weber University. She is a founding member and current Chairperson of the Utah-OCA and is involved with many community and campus organizations, including serving as the adviser for the Salt Lake Community College chapter of Psi Beta, an international honor society for community college students majoring in psychology. She is a member of the Phase I Psychology TICE (Technology Intensive Concurrent Enrollment) team that presented at the American Psychological Association Convention, the Rocky Mountain Psychological Association and the National Institute for the Teaching of Psychology. She also gave the keynote address at the Asian American High School Conference at the University of Utah.
