June Kao, OCA AARP 50+ Fellow
June Kao is the OCA AARP 50+ Fellow at the OCA National Center and AARP. As a fellow, June works to gain access to opportunities and resources for older adults in the Asian Pacific American community. Along with her fellowship with OCA, she also holds the volunteer leadership position of Executive Director of East Coast Asian American Union (ECAASU). With ECAASU, she helps build up the APA student community with programs to educate and develop leaders. June graduated from New York University with a B.A. in Psychology. Originally from New Jersey, she relocated to Washington, D.C. after completing her OCA Summer Internship (class of ‘12). Her passion for community building and the search for her Asian American female identity collided during college. At NYU, she was the Co-chair of Asian Heritage Month, the President of Asian American Women’s Alliance, the Co-director of the 5th annual New York City Asian American Student Conference (NYCAASC), and the Co-founder of Asian Fusion Dance. June’s interest in working for the community expanded beyond the campus community when she interned at Asian & Pacific Islander American Vote (APIAVote) during the summer of 2011.
