Cecil Fong, Co-facilitator
Cecil is the President of Education Rainbow Challenge, which
aims to raise interest in math and science for inner city kids using math and
science challenges. Through the partnership with HISD, over 10,000 students in
grades 3-8 have benefited rom this program since its inception. Cecil also serves
as the Executive Director for Diversity Summit which is an annual forum aimed
to promote Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace.
Over a 34 year career with Shell Oil before retiring in 2011,
he has held a number technical and management positions in various business
segments including Exploration & Production, Chemicals, Lubricants,
Pipeline, Supply & Distribution, and Technology. He has both Bachelor and Master
degree in Chemical Engineering from Rice University.
Cecil is currently serving as President of OCA Greater
Houston and has been Programming Committee Chair for SASE National Conference
for last 2 years. Cecil teaches a class on Asian Culture for HPD and a class on
Caregiving for Chinese Community Center. He is a senior fellow with Leadership
Houston as well as American Leadership Forum.
Cecil was appointed to Harris County 287(g) Advisory
Committee by Sheriff Garcia of Harris County, and Public Safety Advisory
Committee by Mayor Parker of City of Houston. He has served as President for Association
of Chinese Organizations of Houston, Chinese Community Center, Chinese
Professional Club, Houston 80-20 Asian American PAC, and Rice University
Community of Asian Alumni.
