WASHINGTON, D.C. – OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates is pleased to announce that the 2015 OCA National Convention will be held on Thursday, July 2 through Sunday, July 5, 2015 at the Hilton Union Square in San Francisco, CA.

The OCA National Convention is one of the preeminent annual events for the APA community, drawing hundreds of chapter members, affiliates, and partners from across the country for a four day conference that highlights OCA’s mission of empowerment through engagement.

“This National Convention is not only an opportunity for us to celebrate our many triumphs over more than 40 years of advocacy, but also to plan new successes and look towards a bright future,” said Michael W. Kwan, OCA’s National President. “Our theme this year is ‘Unity’, and this important meeting of minds from across the country will help us achieve the collaboration we need today within the Asian American and Pacific Islander movement."

“Founded in 1973, OCA’s mission has been to provide an effective national voice for Asian Pacific Americans,” said Claudine Cheng, Convention National Chair. “This convention offers a valuable opportunity for diverse APA ethnic groups to discuss critical issues impacting the community.  This convention is also about sharing experiences, identifying common grounds, developing action plans and building collaborations.  By unifying and solidifying community strength, we hope to advance an Asian Pacific American agenda that will empower Asian Pacific Americans across the country.”

"The San Francisco Bay Area has a rich history of advocacy and empowerment within the Asian Pacific American community. As the birthplace of Asian American Studies and home to numerous civil rights organizations, we are pleased to bring OCA's 2015 National Convention here," said Local Convention Co-Chairs Michael Lok and Clifford Yee. "This is a wonderful opportunity for members and advocates from the local area and across the country to join in a productive conversation about issues affecting Asian Pacific Americans."
