WASHINGTON, D.C. – OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates, a national membership-driven organization dedicated to advancing the political, social, and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans (APAs), applauds Chris Lu’s nomination as Deputy Secretary of the Department of Labor.

On January 8, 2014 President Obama nominated Chris Lu as the next Deputy Secretary of the Department of Labor. Lu is a graduate of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University and Harvard Law School. He is currently a senior fellow at the Center for the Study of Presidency and Congress. Lu previously served as the Assistant to the President and Cabinet Secretary from 2009 to 2013. During his time in the Administration, he also served as the Co-Chair of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Lu will be the second Asian American to be nominated to a deputy secretary position.

"Chris Lu’s vast experience makes him an excellent candidate for Deputy Secretary of the Department of Labor,” says Sharon M. Wong, OCA President, "He is a strong ally of the Asian Pacific American community, and his nomination is a demonstration of the President’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. We look forward to working closely with him.”
