WASHINGTON, D.C. – OCA, a national organization dedicated to advancing the political, social, and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans (APAs), is seeking applicants for the position of a Development Associate.

The Position: Based at the OCA National Center in Washington, DC, the Development Associate will report to the Director of Development and will be responsible for providing administrative support for OCA’s Development Department in fund raising and development related tasks to meet the Vision and Mission, and strategic priorities of the organization as one which advocates for social, political, and economic well-being of APAs.

The Associate will assist with fund raising activities, major gifts program, donor relations, OCA special events, and other fund development activities. The position will also assist with messaging and communications strategies, including marketing and social media related to development and fund raising efforts. Other essential professional requisites include excellent oral and written communication, project/ program management (both on and off site).

 

Duties: Work closely with the Director of Development to execute funding development goals, programs, and plans. Produce status and projection reports of the program implementation process to provide accurate account of progress. Assist the Director of Development in preparing funding requests for grants and corporate sponsorships. Assist with special events including the National Asian Pacific American Corporate Achievement Awards and OCA’s National Convention. Assist with advertising and marketing, including collateral materials related to donor development, recruitment, retention, and special events. Manage donor database, reporting and data analysis. Maintain foundation, corporation, and individual donor files. Includes data entry and maintenance and report generation. Assist with donor acknowledgement activities including thank you letters, sponsor acknowledgments and other correspondence as needed. Assist with updating of website information as it pertains to fundraising, development, and special events. Coordinate production and mailings of all fund raising appeals, annual reports, and other donor correspondence. Provide administrative support and coordination for special event planning and execution. Ability to follow instructions and ask clarifying questions. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Development. Additional Qualifications: B.A. degree or commensurate work experience in fund raising or related field. One to three years working experience in professional development programming preferred. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, in person, on the phone, and in emails. Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to manage constituent database and website content software.   Proficiency in the use of informational technology to fulfill the work requirements including common work productivity software and hardware, i.e. MS Office suites, Adobe Acrobat, etc. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently and as a team player and leader. Capacity to maintain professional demeanor while working under intense pressure. Capacity to work in a fast paced and flexible environment. High level of personal energy. Interest and commitment to Asian Pacific American advocacy issues. Willingness to work nights/weekends and to travel periodically as required. Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience. Benefits include: health, transportation subsidies, vacation, sick and holiday pay.  Eligibility for enrollment in dental coverage.
