OCA-Verizon Scholarship

OCA has been provided with funding from the Verizon Foundation to fund the OCA-Verizon Scholarship for Asian Pacific Americans (APA) who demostrate financial need.

Verizon Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Verizon Communications, supports a variety of programs that focus on improving basic and computer literacy, bridging the digital divide, enriching communities through technology and creating a skilled work force. The foundation promotes partnerships in technology with organizations serving the needs of diverse communities, people with disabilities, and the economically and socially disadvantaged. Last year, scholarships of $2,000 were awarded to 12 Asian Pacific American students.

Deadline and Application

The application is avaliable here. Please submit a completed application by April 1. 

Eligibility

  • APAs who are entering their first year of college in the Fall of 2010;
  • Must demonstrate financial need;
  • Must be a permanent resident or U.S. citizen; and
  • Must have a cumulative GPA 3.00 or above (unweighted)
  • Must intend on majoring in one of the following areas:

Accounting
Business Administration
Computer Electronics
Computer Engineering
Computer Information Systems
Computer Programming
Computer Science
Economics
Electrical Engineering
Finance
HR Management
Industrial Engineering
Information Technology
International Business
Management Information Systems
Marketing
Mechanical Engineering
Network Administration

If you are interested in applying for more than one scholarship, please only send one envelope. We will automatically send you an application for all the scholarship programs.

***Please note that photocopied applications are accepted. OCA recommends that the student keep a photocopy of the application for his or her records.

The number and types of scholarship awarded are dependent on funding, which vary from year to year.
