4:00 PM  WHO KILLED VINCENT CHIN? by Renee Tajima-Pena and Christine Choy
This film recounts the 1982 murder of Vincent Chin, an automotive engineer mistaken as Japanese who was slain by an assembly line worker who blamed him for the competition by the Japanese automakers that were threatening his job. Devastated by her loss but determined to see justice done, Chin's self-effacing mother spearheaded an unprecedented nationwide protest. The film then recounts how the murderers escaped being brought to justice in the court system.

5:30 PM  VINCENT WHO? by Curtis Chin & Tony Lam
A special tribute double feature screening of the films Who Killed Vincent Chin? by Christine Choy and Vincent Who? by Curtis Chin will immediately follow the workshop. In 1982, Chinese-American Vincent Chin, an automotive engineer, was brutally murdered by two assembly line workers, who blamed his ethnicity for their job loss. The shocking turn of events, including a nonsensical trial outcome opened many people's eyes to the racism and injustice of the American court system. Academy Award nominated Who Killed Vincent Chin? documents the rallies and protests that ultimately became a defining moment forever changing the Asian American community. Vincent Who? is a look at our community twenty five year's later. This new film by Tony Lam and Curtis Chin examines the effects (or crushing lack there of) of the Vincent Chin tragedy within the younger Asian American generations and the importance of keeping the memory of Mr. Chin alive.
